Charles Leclerc is as impressed by the new Ferrari SF90 as Sebastian Vettel is, from whom he wants to learn a lot. He is the new shooting star of Formula 1: Charles Leclerc (21).

From Sauber to Ferrari after only one year. Only Ricardo Rodriguez was even younger about 60 years ago when he joined Ferrari.

Leclerc could write history and become the youngest race winner for Ferrari. So far the record holder is Jacky Ickx, who was 23 years old at the 1968 France GP.

In any case, he seems to have the car to make it possible this year. Like Sebastian Vettel, Leclerc praises the new Ferrari SF90.

“My first feeling in the car was immediately very good, although I realize that these are just test drives. In addition, the new Ferrari is a very easy car to drive, which makes it easier for me as a driver.”

Nevertheless, the young man in red does not want to be too optimistic too soon. “Everyone bluffs in testing, so we shouldn’t focus too much on lap times. I’m sure Mercedes hasn’t revealed all their cards yet, we’re not doing that either.

Leclerc is modest. “People should not forget that this is only my second season in Formula 1. I need time to grow into this role. Vettel can help him with this.”

Leclerc about Vettel: “Not only is he extremely experienced, but I also find it easy to work with him. I can learn a lot from him. Of course, Seb knows the whole team much better than I do and he has so much more technical experience. This is where I have to improve.”

Indirectly, it seems that the Monegasque accepts the number 2 role, which he will occupy at least for the beginning of the season.

However, he adds: “If the car is capable of winning races, I want to win, too. If Mattia struggles to manage two competitive drivers, that’s a good sign for me. “

Leclerc knows what he wants. But he starts his new job with humility.
