Italian Grand Prix 2019

Leclerc Victory Monza 2019

Charles Leclerc brought Ferrari the long-awaited home victory in Monza in front of a frenetic Ferrari fan crowd. Bitter for Sebastian Vettel only P13.

It couldn’t have been better planned for Ferrari’s 90th anniversary: Charles Leclerc achieved the long-awaited home victory in Monza. For the first time since Fernando Alonso in 2010, the Scuderia won again at the Italian GP. The Tifosi fans celebrated their hero jubilantly and transformed the Royal Park into a red sea of flags.

For 53 laps, Leclerc had to fend off Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. Leclerc: “It was extremely difficult, they were faster than us and had two cars to fight today.”

Leclerc referred to fighting on his own after an extremely bitter blunder by Sebastian Vettel: While his teammate became a Ferrari legend writing history, Vettel was surpassed by his own teammate and ended up on P13.
