Achtung Felipe Massa! Das Williams-Cockpit des Brasilianers soll für 2017 bereits an Lance Stroll verkauft worden sein.
Felipinho Massa, sechsjähriger Sohn von Formel-1-Pilot Felipe Massa, schickt sich an eines Tages in die Fußstapfen seines Vaters zu treten. „Er liebt Fußball, aber auch Autos interessieren ihn schon sehr“, erzählt der Williams-Pilot. „Er hat mich schon gebeten, mit ihm zur Kartbahn zu fahren. Das habe ich getan und er war völlig von den Socken.“ Wahrscheinlicher ist aber die Fussballkarriere. Der kleine Massa ist schon der Beste seines Jahrgangs in der Kinderabteilung des AS Monaco. Sein Ballgefühl ist für das Alter atemberaubend. Im Fahrerlager spielt er zuletzt den ganzen Tag mit einem kleinen Ball herum und zeigt seine tollen Tricks.

Fest steht: Der kleine Massa sollte sich beeilen mit der Karriere. Denn, geht es nach Insider-Informationen aus der Formel-1-Szene, soll Papa Felipe spätestens 2017 sein Cockpit räumen: Für den kanadischen Nachwuchspiloten Lance Stroll (18), der im Moment noch in der Formel-3-EM fährt und durch spektakuläre Unfälle auffällt.
Das aber ist egal. Denn Strolls Vater ist Lawrence Stroll, ein bekannter Mode-Tycoon aus Quebec. Er ist einer der reichsten Männer Kanadas, der seinen Sohn bis in die Formel 1 einkaufen will. Ein dementsprechender Deal mit dem Williams-Team soll für 2017 schon existieren. Es würde jedenfalls zum Erziehungsprogramm des kanadischen Milliardärs passen. Denn schon als Stroll junior in Montreal aufwuchs, baute Daddy ihm eine eigene Kartstrecke.

„Die fünf Minuten vom Anwesen zur Rennbahn legte Lance aber gewöhnlich mit dem Helikopter zurück“, stellt Ex-Weltmeister Jacques Villeneuve ätzend fest. Der hat gleich Team samt Fahrlehrer für den Filius gekauft. Teamkollege Felix Rosenquist aus Schweden darf in diesem Jahr zwar noch gewinnen – doch die Hauptaufgabe für den hochtalentierten Angestellten der Stroll-Family ist: Stroll junior das schnelle Fahren beizubringen.
Ob Massa schon weiß, dass sein Platz bei Williams weggekauft wird? Darüber will er keine Auskunft geben. Er spricht lieber von seinem Sohn. Nach seinem dritten Platz beim Rennen in Österreich vor zwei Wochen erzählte er stolz: „Mein Sohn hatte Recht gehabt. Der hat vorher schon gesagt, dass ich Dritter werde .Wie werden sehen, wie er sich sich entwickelt. Ich versuche natürlich, ihm in meiner Rolle als Vater so gut es geht zu helfen. Sollte er Rennfahrer werden wollen und kein Fußballspieler, brauchen wir wohl früher oder später einen Sponsor“, scherzt Vater Felipe. Warum nicht Familie Stroll fragen?
