Mercedes-Motorsportchef Toto Wolff kokettiert mit Lewis Hamiltons Kontakten zu Ferrari.
Die Stimmung ist so gut bei Mercedes, dass man sogar Witze über einen Teamwechsel des Weltmeisters macht… Als am Wochenende in Australien immer mehr Gerüchte über einen Sensationstransfer von Lewis Hamilton zu Ferrari laut wurden, fragte SPORT BILD bei Toto Wolff nach. Der Mercedes-Motorsportchef erstaunlich offen: „Klar hat Lewis Kontakt zu Ferrari.“ Schweigen. Erstaunte Blicke. Nachfrage. Dann offenbart Wolff mit einem Grinsen: „Er hat sich ja gerade erst einen LaFerrari gekauft.“
Lewis Hamilton darf fast alles bei Mercedes. Sogar Autos von der Konkurrenz kaufen. „Wir haben damit kein Problem“, sagt Wolff zu F1-insider.com. Solange Hamilton Leistung bringt, ist alles gut. Und das tut er. Wie in Australien in überlegener Manier. „Er macht einfach da weiter, wo er in Abu Dhabi mit dem Gewinn des Titels aufgehört hat“, sagt Ex-Formel-1-Pilot David Coulthard in SPORT BILD. „Er ist glücklicher und stärker als je zuvor und in dieser aktuellen Form von Nico kaum zu schlagen.“
Schlimmer noch für Teamkollege Nico Rosberg: Nicht mal mehr in der Qualifikation schwächelt der Brite so wie im Vorjahr. Im Gegenteil: Da muss sich jetzt der Deutsche steigern! Coulthard weiter: „Lewis fährt im Moment einfach perfekt. Nico muss jetzt in der Qualifikation unbedingt eine Schippe draufpacken, sonst kann er Lewis nicht mehr gefährlich werden.“
