René Rast holt am Norisring seinen ersten Saisonsieg – im Regen bleibt er auf Pirelli-Slicks draußen.
Der dreimalige DTM-Champion René Rast wäre vermutlich auch gut im Poker. Beim Samstagsrennen der DTM am Norisring jedenfalls setzte der dreimalige Champion bei einsetzendem Regen auf die richtigen Reifen und raste von Startplatz sieben so zu seinem 27. Sieg.
Hintergrund: Als die ersten Regentropfen auf den Stadtkurs fielen, blieb der BMW-Star aus dem Schubert-Team auf den Slickreifen von Einheitsausrüster Pirelli auf der Strecke. Weil der Asphalt anschließend wieder abtrocknete, sparte er sich so einen Boxenstopp und gewann. Für Rast ist es der erste Saisonerfolg.
„Der Sieg ist gigantisch. Ich hatte es im Urin“, sagte der Mindener bei ProSieben: „Ich hatte den Jungs gesagt: ‚Wenn der Regen kommt, lasst mich draußen.'“
Rast fuhr vor dem Franzosen Franck Perera und Luca Engstler (beide Grasser-Lamborghini) ins Ziel. Der Kemptener Nachwuchspilot fuhr von Startplatz 15 mit identischer Strategie auf Rang drei vor. Kelvin van der Linde (Ab-Audi) wurde Sechster und bleibt Tabellenführer.
Die DTM feiert im Rahmen des Traditionsrennens in Nürnberg ihren 40. Geburtstag mit historischen Fahrzeugen und vielen Helden aus dem Debütjahr1984.
Weiter geht’s deshalb schon am Sonntag (13.30 Uhr/ProSieben) – ebenfalls auf dem Norisring.
