In dieser Beziehung ist Ron Dennis allein zu Haus: Sonst will es keiner, aber McLaren-Chef Ron Dennis macht sich als einziger der Formel-1-Entscheidungsträger gerade dafür stark, dass das alte Marussia-Team mit dem Namen Manor und modernisierten bzw. den 2015er-Regeln entsprechenden Autos an der Formel-1-WM 2015 teilnehmen kann.
Da der kauzige Brite nichts ohne Grund macht, fing F1-Insider.com an zu recherieren und fand bei McLaren-nahen Quellen den Grund heraus: Dennis will Ferrari kopieren. Hintergrund: Der Brite glaubt zu wissen, dass die Scuderia das US-amerikanische Haas-Team dazu nutzt, um mehr als die pro Team erlaubten Windkanalstunden herauszuschinden. Wie das geht? Indem man seine Leute bei Rennwagenbauer Dallara einschleust und die für das Haas-Auto für 2016 (das von Dallara gebaut wird) angesetzten Windkanalstunden so auch für eigene Zwecke nutzt. Doppelte Daten bringen ja bekanntlich mehr als einfache.
Dennis hat jetzt die gleiche Nummer mit Manor vor. Dennis‘ Vision: Manor bekommt die Erlaubnis zu fahren, McLaren liefert ihnen Teile, als Manor verkleiderte McLaren-Techniker könnten den inoffiziellen „B-McLaren“ im Windkanal nutzen um doppelte Entwicklungsgeschwindigkeit zu erzielen. Desweiteren will Dennis seinen Motorenpartner Honda davon überzeugen, auch Manor mit Antriebsaggregaten zu beliefern. Ex-Manor-Team Marussia hatte einen Vertrag mit Ferrari. Dazu passt auch: Dennis und der ehemalige Marussia-Boss John Boothe kennen sich schon lange, gelten in der Formel-1-Szene als Verbündete.
Trotzdem bleibt fraglich, ob der Plan aufgeht. Noch gibt es keine offizielle FIA-Nennliste für die WM 2015. Und es käme eines Skandal gleich, wenn die FIA ein Team zulassen würde, das eigentlich nur deshalb existiert, damit ein anderes Team die Regeln umgehen kann.
