Albon Ready for Roller Coaster Ride

Alex Albon at Toro Rosso Summer 2019

Albon: “It’s a jump into the depths, but I have my swimming pants on!”

That’s what Red Bull’s Alex Albon commented on his move from Toro Rosso to Red Bull. The Brit with Thai roots replaces Pierre Gasly at Red Bull Racing, who was crushed by Max Verstappen outstanding performance.

On Monday, Albon completed the first phase of getting ready for his new assignment in Milton Keynes. That he will be sitting on an F1 “ejection seat” that could fire up at any moment didn’t to bother him much.

Recall that Daniil Kvyat had a similar opportunity, but had to vacate his cockpit at Red Bull during the 2017 season. Now Red Bull wants to find out who will deserve the second place next to Verstappen’s side in 2020.

Immerhin: Red Bulls Motorsportberater Helmut Marko hält große Stücke auf Albon.

At least Red Bull’s motorsport consultant Helmut Marko has high hopes for Albon.

After the rain race in Hockenheim and a sixth place, Marko had only good things to say about the Red Bull junior driver calling him “the new high flyer!”

To ABMS and F1-Insider:
“He needs the chance to prove himself at the next level now. On the phone, he told me that he is ready for it.”

Hence, Albon was able to prepare mentally and physically during the summer break for the upcoming challenges knowing he has full support from the very top.
