Kubica Leaves Williams – Latifi Next Driver

Robert Kubica’s F1 comeback ends after just one year. The Pole and Williams go separate ways at the end of the season. Nicholas Latifi new Williams driver.

Robert Kubica’s big dream was a comeback to F1 after his heavy rally accident in 2011. Indeed, it was the dream of all his loyal fans and that of Poland.

After a season as a test driver, Kubica finally achieved his dream with Williams in 2019. Unfortunately, this dream already ends after one season.

On Thursday, Kubica announced his departure before the Singapore GP weekend:

“I want to thank the team for the last two years and for the opportunity to make my F1 comeback come true. I enjoyed the time, but now I feel like it’s time for me to move on and move on to the next chapter in my career. “

Very few experts really believed that Kubica would last another season. Rarely was the pole competitive, and the last place seemed to be reserved for him almost every race.

Also, too large was the gap to his much younger team-mate – George Russell, whatever conspiracy theories Kubica’s most fanatic fans came up with.

Still, Kubica was allowed to announce his departure himself, officially leaving Williams and not the other way around.

Team Principal Claire Williams:

“I thank Robert for his hard work and respect his decision to leave the team at the end of the season and we wish him all the best for his future.”

Kubica’s successor is already getting read. According to information available to AutoBild and F1 Insider, Nicholas Latifi will get the second Williams cockpit.

The Canadian, who brings plenty of sponsorship money, already convinced the team about his capabilities on Friday training. Also in Formula 2 Latifi has been successful. Currently, he is in second place in the rankings. Latifi will be officially confirmed shortly.
