Singapore Grand Prix 2019

Charles Leclerc Singapore Qualifying 2019

Saturday Qualifying

Ferrari’s new aerodynamic package hasn’t failed. Suddenly the Scuderia is faster than Mercedes even on this curse with its many corners, and of course, Ferrari’s new star Charles Leclerc! After his two victories at Spa and Monza, Charles Leclerc dashes on pole position in Singapore.

The Ferrari shooting star put Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) in second place and his team-mate Sebastian Vettel in third. Vettel just lacked 0.2 seconds on the best time but it was only enough for P3.

Leclerc cheered exuberantly: “My first attempt wasn’t good. So it had to work in the second. It did, although I had several moments where I almost lost control.”

Timo Glock praised Leclerc: ” Wasn’t impressed by Vettel’s best time and came back with a bang…”

Hamilton, however, was a bit baffled: “Ferrari has brought an upgrade and so far it seems to work well. That I would be behind them, I didn’t expect. No idea where they generated the pace. “

Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto encouraged Vettel after just landing only on P3: “Sebastian showed today that he can be very fast. For him it is important that he knows that he can be fast. He knows it, but it’s all about self-confidence.”
