UPDATE: Ohne Vettel sieht der neue Red Bull aus wie ein Zebra! Als der RB11 heute früh in Jerez ganz unspektakulär aus der Garage fuhr, staunten sogar die Gegner. Das Auto ist nur schwarz-weiß, überzogen mit einem Lack wie ein Erlkönig. So nennen sich Prototypen, die von Automobilherstellern mit einer Tarnfarbe versehen werden, damit die Öffentlichkeit nicht zu früh erfährt, wie ein neues Modell aussieht.
Und tatsächlich: Red Bull will seinen RB11 tarnen! Motorsportchef Helmut Marko verrät F1-insider.com: “Dabei handelt es sich um eine Camouflage, die ein Engländer im zweiten Weltkrieg entwickelt hat, um die deutsche Kriegsmarine zu täuschen.” Hintergrund: Damals wie heute können Details weder auf Kriegsschiffen noch auf dem neuen Red Bull erkannt und gedeutet werden. So will sich das ehemalige Vettel-Team vor Spionage schützen.

Im Internet kursiert seit gestern ein Ausschnittsfoto des neuen Red Bull RB11, veröffentlicht vom Blogger „TheJudge13“. Auffällig dabei: eine Lackierung mit Zebrastreifen – zumindest sieht das Design im Heckbereich auf dem pixeligen Foto so aus.
F1-insider.com fragte bei Motorsportchef Helmut Marko nach. Der erklärte lächelnd: „Dabei handelt es sich um eine Camouflage, die ein Engländer im zweiten Weltkrieg entwickelt hat, um die deutsche Kriegsmarine zu täuschen.“
Hintergrund: Damals wie heute können Details weder auf Kriegsschiffen noch auf dem neuen Red Bull erkannt und gedeutet werden. So will sich das ehemalige Vettel-Team vor Spionage schützen.
Die „deutsche Kriegsmarine“ der Formel 1 hat so etwas nicht. Der neue Silberpfeil aus Stuttgart ist „ungetarnt“.
Der RB11 fährt morgen erstmal in Jerez bei den offiziellen Wintertestfahrten – und zwar im Zebra-Tarnlook!
