Hamilton wins after superior strategy. Verstappen no chance but happy to confirm strength and potential of car.
Hamilton swapped to a two-stop strategy in a bid to use fresh tires to mount a late attack on Red Bull driver Verstappen. The risk paid off with even Hamilton himself surprised how easy it was at the last laps of the race.
Verstappen: “I think you can see how much margin they still have when they really need to push,” Verstappen said in the post-race press conference.
“Today Lewis was on fire as well, but you see, once he really has to go for it, you can see that that car is still the dominant car.
Ferrari’s lead driver Sebastian Vettel completed the podium using a similar strategy as Hamilton to take over his team-mate at the closing laps of the race

Red Bull driver Pierre Gasly topped the second Free Practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix, setting the fastest time before the rain came.
Due to a crash by Alex Albon, teams weren’t able to get more laps in before the rain started to fall in earnest. That left Red Bull at the top followed by Hamilton in P3 and Bottas in P4. Still, Ferrari is expected to be strong in qualifying on Saturday.
